The default password is 1000. If you forgot the custom password you set, then please contact us for the master password to reset it again.

Yes, it comes with 5 voltage sensing leads, 4 current sensing coils, and a USB power supply and cable. The diameter of the current sensing coils is 24mm and it can measure up to 600A, If you want to measure higher currents, then you have to buy larger Rogowski coils, also available here.

The device comes with two 18659 Lithium batteries.

The build in LiPo batteries last 10 hours. We recommend plugin it into mains power if planning to log for longer than 10 hours. Alternatively one could also use a large USB power bank, just make sure it is large enough to last the duration you want to log for. A 10 0000 mAh Power bank will last 3 days in our experience.

Each meter is factory-tested and calibrated. The allowable variance is less than 0.05% Click here to see an example factory meter calibration report. The ME440 logs to its data to 31GB internal memory. Then you can then download the data to an USB stick.

The metre automatically starts logging data as soon as it’s turned on.
This feature must just be enabled. Watch the following video on how to enable this feature:

To delete data that is currently stored on the meter, do the following.

  • Press F4 to go to the SettingRecord screen.
  • Press OK to go the the SettingRecordStore screen.
  • Press F1 and hold it for 3 seconds, a message will come up asking “Erase MicroSD Card?”
  • Pres OK to confirm and delete all data from the internal MicroSD Card.

The minimum logging interval of the Mi550 is five seconds. The minimum logging interval of the ME440 and ME435 is one seconds.

On the ME440, the sample rate of the electrical energy measurement chip is 8k samples per second.

To connect the meter for a single phase setup, connect the phase voltage to phase A (terminal UA)  connect the (terminal UN) to neutral and the Earth terminal to Earth.

To measure the current connect the Rogowski coil live wire to Port IA, and the Neutral wire to port IN. Please take care that the Rogowski coils are connected the right way around.

One could measure just the current, and not the voltage, but then one would only have the current values. All other factors, can then not be calculated factors like the power, the power factor, the energy and other aspects. So, it is highly recommended to always measure both current and voltage leads.

The maximum input voltage that the ME440 can handle is 480 VAC, L-N.

THD – yes. The ME440 measures total harmonic distortion for both voltage (UTHD) and current (ITHD), per phase, displayed live on the meter and recorded in the logged data.

Harmonic spectrum – yes, up to the 51st order. The meter measures every individual harmonic from the 2nd to the 51st order, per phase, for both voltage and current. On the display, you can view five selectable harmonic orders at a glance (default 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th, 11th) and browse the full 2nd–51st list.

Harmonic data logging and download. The detailed harmonic data is stored separately from the basic power quality data. When downloading to a USB stick, you select the data type on the meter: BasicData, HarmonicData, or Basic&HarmonicData. The harmonic download gives you dedicated CSV files – one for voltage harmonics (UTHD plus UHD2–UHD51) and one for current harmonics (ITHD plus IHD2–IHD51), for each phase, at every logging interval (configurable from 1 second). This lets you plot the complete harmonic spectrum over time in Excel and see how individual harmonic orders develop throughout the day, without the harmonic columns cluttering your main data file.

TDD – calculated from the logged data. The meter does not output TDD (Total Demand Distortion) as a native value. However, since TDD is THD referenced to the maximum demand current rather than the fundamental, and the ME440 logs ITHD, current, current demand and peak demand in the same file, TDD can be derived directly from the logged data (TDD = ITHD × I₁/IL). If you need this for an IEEE 519 compliance assessment, contact us – we can help you set up the calculation in the free Excel analysis template included with the meter.
